my 6 year old niece talking to her mommy....
nina: mommy, was dada your boyfriend?
my cousin: yes, nina.
nina: was he your only boyfriend?
my cousin: no. but he was my last and then we got married.
nina: i can't believe it mommy. you had a fat boyfriend!
after i heard of this, i sat beside nina and....
me: nina, would you want to have a fat boyfriend or a not so fat one?
nina: i don't want to have a boyfriend.
me: what if your boyfriend looks like spiderman? (love nya spiderman movie!)
nina: (blushing) no din.
me: a boyfriend as fat as dada?
nina: never! no way!

random things....
if you read the newspaper or watch the evening news, you would know about the rumored local nursing board exam leakage. my school is in the middle of all the hulabahoo. im not worried though. despite text messages of concerned friends, i am not transferring. because like all other intrigues, scandals and controversies--this too shall pass.
i miss going to bacolod. my mom is going to dumaguete next week--inggit ako! sassa, amishu na!
i have been either in the hospital for clincal rotations or school for classes the whole week, it's tiring!
baby boy P is four months old. dad is in jail. mom is a shabu user. he was not fed for weeks. baby was malnourished with lesions/cellulitis on the head and different parts of the baby when he was brought to the hospital. My patients always, always makes me realize how blessed i am.
TGIF! happy weekend!

the exam that we had for my NCM204 class that was to cover neurology was super difficult. at first i thought ako lang, but turns out that everyone had a difficult time answering the questions. the exams started 5PM and i got to submit my paper three hours after! the type of exam was multiple choice but it seemed like all the choices provided were correct. i asked my prof on what the passing score was, he said 2. i think i got at least 2 answers correct--so hopefully i still pass the exam. :P
after the exam, my friends from school and i had dinner at marina. we went to mocha blends after for coffee and desert. we got to go home past 12 midnight na. i didn't have work the following day and duty was also cancelled so we took the opportunity to stay out late na lang.
duty resumed saturday but we had our orientation at the pedia ward lang. so after orientation we decided to watch a movie. amboy was spending the weekend sa house namin. since i promised him we will go to the mall after duty, he went to watch a movie with us. ate emma's daughter went with us also. so six (me,amboy, ate emma, trisha, arlet, and tita mai) of us trooped to SM city, not knowing na it was weekend sale! had we known, we would have gone to gateway na lang.
it took us 30 mins to park, we bought movie tickets for sukob. had a late lunch (all of us plus the kids were super hungry). tapos watched a movie. the moviehouse is new, kaya the air conditioning was so cold. i was sitting beside a girl who was alone and muntik na nya matapon sa akin yung pop corn nya during one of the scary scenes. the movie was so-so. pwede na for me. story was not nice but some of the scenes were scary.
we got home past 8pm na kasi it was traffic. had jollibee dinner with amboy tapos since pagod ata kmi pareho we were both sleeping by 10PM.
i went back to SM sunday morning with amboy and ate peach. bought amboy school shoes and raincoat. after, we went to the grocery since i had to buy "baon" for my clinical duty. we have duty monday to saturday for the next 2 weeks. for the OR rotation, we are not allowed to go out of the station kaya we have to have food with us.
sunday afternoon was spent sleeping and right before work, dad and i went to SM bicutan para ihatid si amboy sa office ng mom nya. amboy was sad going home, sabi nya "sana dito na lang ulit kmi nakatira". awww...kawawa naman.
when i thought i won't be able to go out, i was! and i had fun. i could say fully charged ako and ready to embrace the next 2 weeks of everyday duty rotation and having to work from sunday to tuesday since my leave was not approved.
an hour and a half na lang and im off na. i have duty at the hospital later from 2pm to 10pm and have work again from 10pm to 6am. i guess merong ma late for work mamaya....teehee! happy monday!

i have prelim exams later and tomorrow.
it is lea's exams also for the next two days (i started tutoring her 2 weeks ago).
i have been averaging 3 hours of sleep because of my exams and lea's since i would need to prepare test papers for her to answer.
duty resumes thursday, but im hoping it starts friday as i have exams on thursday afternoon that is to cover neurology.
duty for the next two weeks is everyday! i don't know on what to do with regards my work schedule. the vacation leave i applied for was not approved (nothing new!). bahala na si batman!
i want to either party, go out for drinks, watch a movie, or go to the mall--but i can't. not for the next two weeks at least.
August has just started, and it has been crazy already.
but im not complaining.
infact, i was able to change my blog template. and i love my new template (love your own!).
my life is not perfect, but i must say that it is the imperfections that makes life beautiful.
and it is the little things that people do/say that makes me smile.
God is good =D

I have often been asked on why I dropped my MBA studies and took up nursing instead. My standard response was "I am spending the same amount of money but would end up earning more as a nurse" (I was totally wrong though because nursing school is so E-X-P-E-N-s-I-V-E!).
I will lie if I say I was not "financially motivated" when I decided to take up nursing, because I was.
After I enrollend in nursing school. I would often have second thoughts. I think of what I have gotten myself into. In between reading nursing books or reviewing for exams, I dream of going to the mall, meet-up with friends, watch a movie or TV instead of studying on weeknights and weekends.
In the past year, I have missed a lot of work growth oppurtunities. They will be forever be missed because I will never have the time to give work my full attention.
But at the end of the day, I know that where I am right now was my choice. This is what I choose and for the next year or so, I would have to sacrifice.
To be a nurse is easy. To be a good one is not. We have skills to know by heart. We have to have the heart to take care of patients--naligo man sila o hindi, rich or poor, nice or rude, deal or no deal (duh!teehee). In the nursing profession, you can't say you are having a bad day bec your patient depends on you for their immediate care. You can't come up with excuses. A wrong decision is a wrong decision. A wrong assessment could cause you your license and worse your patient's life. It is one of those professions where dedication is very important. To be a nurse is a commitment to serve others.
I just pray and hope that nurses get the recognition and the respect they deserve. I hope people realize that we nurses are not maids.
I hope and pray that nurses realize that every time they step inside the hospital, they are not just in the hospital because it is their job. But they are to provide care and comfort to the patient.
I will be a hypocrite if I say that I am no longer "financially motivated" because I still am. It's just that now I know that the nursing profession is not all about the money. Nurses earn more because they work hard for every centavo they get.
I still have second thoughts. And sometimes, I doubt myself if I am capable of being a nurse. But now more than ever, I know in my heart that I want to do this. I want to be a nurse. Not just a nurse but a good nurse. A nurse with a heart to care and a commitment to serve. I will work hard to achieve my goals. I may have missed a lot of oppurtunities now, but more are waiting for me--lot more than I can even imagine.

It has been raining the past week and I am not complaining. I got my much needed rest and have now recovered from my cough and colds (again!). I did not have clinical rotation last week, for some reason we were bumped off Ospital ng Maynila (OM). So, for the coming 2 weeks I will have my Operating room rotation at Mandaluyong Medical Center (MMC). I have been hearing stories from schoolmates that the doctors at MMC are strict. Patay akong bata ako!
We had dinner last night at Gerry's to celebrate my dad and mom's anniversary. After dinner we went to Cafe Breton for coffee and desert. It was time to bond again with my mom's side of the family. Tetet brought the pics from tito sonny's bday so we had a fun time looking at it.
Went to metrowalk with Ate Peach to buy dvd's. Bought dvd's for first season of numb3rs, first and second season ofwithout a trace and first and second season lost. I plan on buying all 5 seasons of 24 the next time we go back to metrowalk. Sana mag sweldo na ulit.
Im so sleepy...2 more hours of staying here in the office and i can go home na. happy monday to all!

Yesterday (July 10) was my mom's birthday (Happy Birthday, Mommy!).
No party--we just had dinner out.
I think the dinner with relatives and friends is on sat as my parents celebrate their wedding anniversary.
Dinner was good. We bought cake at cake2go a new cake shop at timog ave. Cake was sinfully good.
Finally time to go home. Ciao!

SURPRISE! We had a surprise birthday party for Tito Sonny Boy. He turned 60 yesterday but as what tita benjie said age does not matter as long he lives a happy life, he is healthy and could still do the boogie.

He didn't have an idea that his children were planning him a surprise party. All he thought was we were having dinner for his birthday. He got the shock of his life as friends and family surprised him with a dinner/inuman party at gweilos in Makati. When my uncle saw his friends he greeted them all with P***** I** while shaking and hugging his guests. My cousin then commented that my tito was mad despite the beerday surprise bec he was cursing his friends, teehee.
Highlights of the party are:
One: With good food, drinks, and good company = perfect party! I know everyone had fun. Too bad I had to work that same evening (I went straight to work from the party), I was limited to drinking iced tea.

Two:It was also peew's coming out party. With Mike sa kahon and Gobin in guitars, she serenaded her dad and the guests to a wonderful Hey Jude song number.

We originally planned on doing a dance number but had to change plans for the lack of time to meet up and practice. The task of the special number was left to peew.
Three:Tett prepared a video presentation for his dad. She even got Snooky Serna (a local actress) to greet. The video presentation was really nice--labor of love ni Sonny Boy Jr!
Four:The cake (from becky's) with the pang brownout candles.

Five:When the bday boy gave his thank you speech he started bawling (exagge!). Tears of joy lang yun for sure.

More pictures of the party posted here.

Got this from mica and i just thought of posting it to share to you....
As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.
Got to get back to work now. Ciao!

Wait Forever
Gary Valenciano
Standing on the great divide
I feel the sudden need to fly
Underneath the open sky
And the river down below
I could keep on running now
I could keep on cheating death and yet somehow
It all ends up the same
And I don't want to be the one who's blamed
Can you see that I don't really have a choice at all
If only for a taste of flight
I'd gladly take the fall
So, I say I love you
I don't wanna wait forever
Just to say, I need you
Doesn't even have to matter
If it really matters anything to you
I'd gladly take this ride
As long as you are there on the other side
Not making sense at all
Of making sense of it all
So while I can, I'll take the chance,
I'm diving in
If you need me, I will die --
To feel alive again
So, I say I love you
I don't wanna wait forever
Just to say, I need you
Doesn't even have to matter
When I say I love you, yeah yeah
I'm falling like
I've never done so before
I'm flying against the wind
And here I go
So, I say I love you
I don't wanna wait forever
Just to say, I need you
Doesn't even have to matter
I don't wanna wait forever,
So, while I can I'll take my chance
So, I'll say, I need you
Doesn't even have to matter
When I say...
I love you so (I love you), I need you
It doesn't really matter (no, it doesn't really matter)
If it really matters anything to you
I love you...

The past few days had been bad days. Hopefully, this week will turn out better than the previous week. I've read somewhere that "Happiness is dependent on the events in your life". Im praying for better things this week.
It's almost 4 in the morning and I am here in the office. Yes, I am back to graveyard shift. It's my first day on the new shift and since I was not able to sleep this afternoon, Im getting sleepy already. Pero, kaya ko ito! It was difficult to convince my parents to allow me to take this shift. Paiyakan...as in para lang payagan ako. And my dad had his conditions. First was that I have to start drinking vitamins and second was that anytime I feel na hindi ko na kaya, I should resign. Touched ako that my parents really look after me (and my sisters plus Borgy), but matigas lang ang ulo ko that I be allowed to work. Anyways, I have decided that I will resign before the year ends. I would have to start reviewing for the nursing boards na din naman while I finish my last semester for school. Hmm...But sayang ang Christmas bonus!
My weekend was short. I was having a bad Saturday, good thing my ate asked me if I wanted to go to the mall--Shopping (kahit window lang) is FUN! Very therapeutic talaga ang malling. teehee!
I woke up early Sunday morning for church. I was up before 6:00am because I was planning to go back to sleep after but I was not successful as the afternoon was spent watching dvd and tv.
On our way to church, my dad told me that the place where we live in now was only bought for Php50,000 by my lolo. Wow! The property would now sell for millions. Dati pa daw only three houses were on our street. And right from the garden, you can see the UST Church. I live in Quezon City and UST is 30 mins travel time from my house! Tapos my Great grandfather bought my dad's eldest brother a volkswagen for Php12,500. How I wish I could buy a car for that price! Most probably I will be changing cars every year or every six months even.
I have 2 new discoveries over the weekend. First is lipton's red tea and second is kitkat cappuccino flavor. Uh-oh, Im planning to lose some weight nga pala. sheesh!
Before I went to work last night, I was able to watch Pinoy Meets World at ch 7. They featured Korea for the pilot episode. I have always wanted to go to Korea. Because of all the koreanovela's I have previously watched, super impressed ako sa country nila. They featured pa their theme park na super ganda. One of my friends from school who recently went to Korea though said na very expensive daw dun. I have an ex-officemate from ibank who now works and lives in Korea...paging Divine! Ampunin mo nga ako even for just a week.
Im expecting this week to be a crazy one. With classes and clinical rotations for the whole week (and weeks to come) plus work. Isa lang masasabi ko, Bring It On! ;P

good thing we had reservations kasi super dami ng tao. i think, this is the first ever father's day that we celebrated (my dad being abroad). my other sister was with us, camera shy lang. parang kuya ko si borgy (my younger cousin) sa picture! teehee.
we went to makati med hospital last night to visit mica (get well soon, cuz!) and something really funny happened. me, my ate and tita was dropped off the entrance of the hospital by my mom and dad because it was almost 10 in the evening and visiting hours of makati med was up to 10pm only. when we got to the room, mica's mom told me that the patient on the other room (right beside mica's) was dying already. we went outside and a priest was already inside the room with the relatives of the patient. the door though was half opened. we went back inside the room and after a few minutes my mom, dad and mica's dad went inside the room. my mom was laughing. she went straight the other room (with the dying patient) thinking na yun ung room ni mica. my dad naman was outside with mica's dad. my mom started praying with the relatives of the patient. inisip na daw nya bakit may priest and she got really scared (the last time mica had dengue, it was a really bad case of dengue). tapos pag tingin daw nya sa patient, hindi si mica. she went out agad. teehee! sabi agad ng tita ko, "kami nga ni macy sumilip lang ikaw naman pumasok pa talaga.".
gotta stop blabbing and start preparing for bed. i have orientation at the hospital tomorrow for hospital rotation and i have classes after. i am excited kasi i have a new bag (babaw!). do you still remember back when you were still in school and you get all excited during first day because you have new school stuff? i still remember super enjoy kami ni sassa buying school supplies (diba cuz?). excited pa din ako but not much because i paid for it,teehee! great week ahead everyone!

daddy: macy...macy...
me: dad, it's Sunday. I don't have work today.
daddy: hindi, bp mo lang si mommy mo kasi nahihilo daw.
I thought my dad was waking me up because I had work. I immediately got out of bed and when I checked, it was only one in the morning. I got my mom's bp which was normal. Dad decided to bring her to St Luke's for check up. ECG and blood tests were normal. Doctor's diagnosis is vertigo. My mom was allowed to go home at about 5 in the morning.
Sunday morning was spent catching up on sleep. I woke up before lunch and started my grey's anatomy marathon. I bought the second season dvd at metrowalk Saturday evening. I was not able to do anything for 2 whole days (Sunday and Monday) and all I did was watch the series. It was so bitin but so much better than the first season. I can't wait for the third season. I am a McDreamy fan!
Tuesday afternoon was time for me to fix my schedule for school. After preparing the schedule I suddenly realized I don't have time for work anymore. Ever since I graduated from college, I have been working already. I stopped a month after I resigned from RCBC Savings and transferred to Ibank. I was able to take a month break from Ibank to RMH but that's it. Aside from the leaves I take in between I have practically been working so having to decide to quit work is difficult. If I quit I will have to live by the allowance my parents will give me...No unnecessary shopping/purchases for at least a year! nyikes!
I want to bake. I was blog hoping and found a recipe for banana and chocolate chip cookies and lemon poppyseed loaf. Sounds yummy, I just hope I give justice to the recipe. I hope I don't get tamad. I will post pictures if I get to bake.
happy weekend everyone!

Im sick again. The last time I remember I got sick was Holy week....And now I have coughs and colds AGAIN! I have never been sickly. A year can pass without me getting sick. Not the past year though.
I blame the weather...One minute it is summer hot and before you know it starts raining. But then again I guess I am partly to blame since my mom always--always tells me to drink vitamins (I can already hear her telling me how I am not drinking vitamins later when she sees me and hears me barking like a dog!). I refuse to do so--tigas ulo eh! Ako lang ata ang nurse na laging may sakit (hahaha!).

"Parang ako nasa amazing race!"
I sent that message to Anna as I was on my way to sheila's house for her bday party. I felt like I was on a race going to their house. I rode a fx, jeep and then a trisikad.
I really didn't know on how to go to her house. Most of them are coming from work (7am!) and I didn't want to wake up early that's why I just decided I will go by myself. Sheila gave me instructions, and I was pretty confident since I had sense of direction naman. I originally thought of taking a cab but decided against doing so as I felt that jeep and sikad drivers know better than cab drivers.
My dad dropped me off quezon ave and I took the FX to morayta. From morayta, I took a jeep to tutuban (I had to ask the barker if the jeep was tutuban bound). After I went down the jeep, I rode a sikad to sheila's hse. I told the driver where I was going and he said he knew. In less than 10 minutes, I was near my destination. Simbahan na my Jollibee! When I asked the sikad driver how much the fare was, I immediately felt robbed. It was for Php80! I didn't have a choice. Paid him and thanked him (sana makonsensya ka for overprinting!). Sheila picked me up and after a few steps we were at her home na. I even told her she could have just given me instructions and I would have found it. After I ate, I asked her on how much I should have paid the sikad driver. She told me Php20--tama nga ako that I was robbed! Side kwento: during the Sikad ride, (right along the tutuban mall) the sikad driver asked me to go down as he had to go on the other side of the street. After we crossed the street I rode the trike again!
The party was fun. Everyone were from the collections department and it was my first time to meet them, but just the same I had fun! Food was great but since I was not feeling well already, I really didn't eat much. Except for the cake and the uloulo.

Anna and I agreed to go to 168 after. So, at about 2 in the afternoon we said our goodbye na. We asked Sheila how much we should be paying the sikad and she said Php30 since dalawa kmi. In 10 minutes, we were shopping our hearts out! We had so much fun shopping. Too bad, short for time since she had work at 1:00am. We left the mall past four in the afternoon. She bought a jacket, 2 tops, sandals, shorts, and umbrella all for over a thousand lang. The jacket she bought was really nice. It was originally priced at Php850 but because of our pagtawad she was able to buy it for only Php550. Super good deal. I bought a skirt and sandals (same as anna's), total damage was 500.
anna wearing the very nice jacket we bought
We then rode a sikad (the biggest mistake we made) and was again robbed! Prior to riding, because of my earlier experience we asked the driver on how much the fare was up to LRT 2 station. He said "TWENTY". I asked again and he said "TWENTY" again. So we rode but after about 3 minutes, we decided to just ride the jeep to morayta and then take a cab from there. So we asked the manong to drop as off and paid him Twenty pesos as agreed.
Manong: SEVENTY!
Me and Anna: ANO!
Me: Manong, dalawang beses ka namin tinanong ang sabi mo TWENTY. alangan naman bingi kmi pareho
Manong: Seventy sabi ko!
and since I didn't really want to argue, I gave him a Php200 bill. He went around looking for change and then gave me Php60.
Me: Manong kulang ito.
Manong: Tag 70 kayo.
Anna: Manloloko ka pala manong e
Me: Yaan mo na Ann, pera lang yan. di naman aasenso yan si manong.
I know it was mean of me to say that but you can't blame me. No wonder tourists are afraid of going to our country, kasi kmi na nga na Filipinos niloloko what more the foreigners. It gives a bad image to the Philippines. We rode the jeep and spent only Php15.00 for the fare. We could have paid the same if we rode the jeep from 168. hay....I have learned my lesson na talaga. Not to ride those sikad's anymore or atleast check more than twice on how much they are charging.
So, ending...Whatever we saved from all the tawad we did while shopping went to the sikad driver. Nonetheless, I had fun. And we agreed on going back. On my way home I actually realized that if I was just driving, I could have just brought the car or the van with me...I will really practice my driving na!

When I was taking up my first course, I never read thick books. Most of the books we had were the regular sized books. Wala ako nung mga "geek" looking books. Now that I am in nursing school, I have to read books na super kakapal and super bigat! Minsan, just looking at my books make me sleepy. My room is filled with nursing books. To think that I still have a year left of nursing school...by the time I finish baka di na makita ang floor ng room ko. What really scares me is I am not a fast reader. I read books but for entertainment. It is easy to read--but to read, understand what you are reading, and to eventually apply it in the hospital is a different story. With the amount of reading I have to do, feeling ko na sobrang behind ako. We do have lectures in school but that would never be enough for me to pass the local boards and the exams I have to take sa US after I graduate. I really have to make time for my reading. Reading, understanding and not to end up sleeping. I always end up either sleeping or sleepy after reading a chapter or two. I would recommend reading medical books to whoever is insomiac. So, sino ba ang may secret to effective and efficient reading?

I felt it was something I needed to do.
My parents with friends watched Da Vinci Code at gateway. Since I have seen the movie already, I went with them but I window shopped. I was alone...going from shop to shop. Looking for anything that will catch my attention and trying to resist the temptation from buying since I am trying to save up for something. But what is malling without buying. So I ended up with tsinelas (not any of the designs that I want though) and kikay stuff.
After an hour and a half of walking, I ended up having coffee and reading school related stuff (i brought a book with me!) while waiting for my parents. We had dinner at terriyaki boy after (yummy!).
Was home past ten in the evening but I must say I had fun. It was time alone and I felt that in those few hours, I was in a different world (teehee!). I felt happy when I got home. Nawala lahat ng stress and pressure. And now I am ready to study for next week's final exam. Yep, in a few days summer school is over (And I am sooo excited). I still have things to read, do and submit. But I know that I will get to finish them. Summer went by so fast! A week after summer school is enrollment for the second semester. It will be a very busy semester with clinical rotations, but what the heck. One more year and I am done--with school, AGAIN.

Spoiler Alert: looks like its Kat and Taylor (yehey!) for the final 2! click
here for voting results.
"Have a Good Time Funny Taylor" is my American Idol!
I would like to think Elliot is going to make it too but it seems that he doesn't have the looks to be an American Idol.
I loved McPhees's Somewhere Over the Rainbow rendition but other than that it was--blah!
I don't care on who makes it between Yamin and McPhee as long as Taylor makes it,I'm one happy girl!

Happy Mother's Day! We had lunch at Chili's Morato. We went early since we know (from past experiences) that restaurants are full during special occasions. I brought my camera, wanting to take pictures but I took one picture lang the whole time. We had salad and baked mussels for appetizer. I had pork with cheese and veggies that I harldy ate for main course. I was so full at the end of lunch. Buti na lang we decided to eat lunch out not dinner or else it will take me the entire evening to digest the food. I hardly ate dinner nga din kasi super busog pa. To end the perfect lunch is ice cream! SARAP!
Mother's day is special, has always been and will always be. So to all the Mommy's in my life, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

i love you sabado, pati na din linggo!
what makes me love this weekend the more is it has been raining since yesterday! horray! kakahiya man aminin, buhay BABOY ako yesterday. After work, i just slept the whole afternoon. had dinner with my dad around 7pm. watched TV and then was in dreamland before 10pm. I didn't do anything school related which is bad. I have to catch up on reading for my med-surgical subject. Oh well, i have the whole weekend to do this. not unless antukin nanaman ako.
tomorrow is Mother's Day, will probably be going out for either lunch or dinner.
i am an addict! i finished one season of grey's anatomy last monday and i can't wait to watch season two. The season one dvd had a few episodes of season two and the last cd was super bitin! kainis.
now that Chris has been voted out of American idol, I am wishing that Taylor wins.
i think i am not making any sense with this post. i always seem to be lost. anyhoo, happy weekend all and happy mother's day to all the momma's! *kisses*

I filed for new work schedule after I have finalized my school schedule. After the new work schedule was approved, my professor decides to change the time our classes start. From 10am to 9am...i get off from work at 9am. kaasar!
I hate, hate the idea of going to school pag summer. Suprisingly, I am SO FAR enjoying my class. My teacher is super funny and even if our lectures are during hours wherein you would rather sleep, he tries his best to have lively classes. Para lang ako nanonood ng cartoons while he lectures. Why? he looks like shrek according to one of my classmates. In fairness, ang cute nya (cute in the sense na parang cartoons)!

I am predicting that Kelly will be voted out of american idol later. Time for her to go. I think that this year's winner will either be Chris, Taylor or Elliot.
Shoot Me! I watched PBB Teen Edition last monday and tuesday evening. And have decided not to watch it anymore. Feeling ko lahat ng bata doon iiyak and will reveal something about themselves to get attention. My mom calls one of the girls "laglag balikat". She always wears off- shoulder shirts. Parang lagi daw may party. I know they will all end up as "artista" as they get out of the PBB house. And as all newspaper write-ups put it, lahat sila "artistahin". I wonder what's next after the teen edition. How about PBB Retired Edition? teehee!
I have not been watching amazing race because the racers are boring. Weird because I have always loved the show. I just don't know if it's with the racers and the show or it's just me.

Shoutout: Welcome to this world George Spencer!

I think I have been in my laziest mode for the past 2 weeks. I have not done anything school related even if I still have to finish my return demo for school. I have to start fixing my things for school. Books and photocopies are all over my room (ok, kindda exaggerated bec my mom will kill me if my room was in a mess). I have to sort the photocopies and put them in brown envelop and keep them. I will be needing them as I start reviewing for the board exams. sheesh!
Inspite of being in my lazy mode, I have enrolled last Monday for summer classes. So, as much as I want to be in this state of doing nothing I too have no choice but to get back to my senses--SOON!
Anyways, I went out of town over the weekend! I had the chance to spend time with relatives from my dad's side. It was so much fun. Traffic going home was terrible as we went back to Manila Sunday afternoon. I was not able to take too much pictures though, kasi nga tamad. Anyways, pictures are posted here. During the short stay, I was able to meet long lost relatives. I met 2 of my second cousins who are in Nueva Ecija from Boston for a vacation. I promised to bring them around before they leave, but I haven't actually called them. Bad! I have not met their mom. And their lolo who is the brother of my lolo got lost daw dati. They didn't really know where he went. Tapos my greatgrandmother had a dream that he was buried in a certain cemetery, I can't remember where. But when they (my greatgrandmother and greatgrandfather) went there, that lolo of mine was buried nga doon. Parang ang labo ng story ko. teehee! Anyways, my tito's and tita's were talking about a reunion that they want to have. As in have everyone in the states go home. That would be fun! I hope it pushes through.
I had a great time watching AI yesterday afternoon. I think this is the best show this season so far. I look forward to watching the results show later as Rod Stewart is performing. Im so happy I don't have school and that I get to watch later.
Ciao!

When my sister left for the states, I felt really sad. But I was happy for her because I knew that she was doing something she really wanted. And that she was going because she had to live her dreams.
Someone really close to me has moved. Actually, two people very close to me. It’s weird because I never thought it was going to be this difficult. We have talked about it in the past but now that it is actually happening, it's really not easy.
Bheng and Amboy are moving.
I have seen Amboy grow up. It was just like yesterday when we visited Bheng in the hospital as she gave birth to Amboy. I was witness to his baptismal, first hospitalization, birthday's, first day in school, field trips, recognition day, graduation day, atbp. We do fight. In fact we always do. Lagi ko din sya inaaway, but I know that he knows that I care and love him dearly.
After Mimi went to the States and Sassa left to go back to Bacolod, it was just Bheng and I left in the compound. Of course I equally felt sad when the two left but it's different now that it is Bheng's turn to leave. I guess it's because she is doing it with a heavy heart. Bheng has been there for me in all good times and bad. She is my videoke partner and for more than a year we have both discovered are fondness for RHB. She has been there to hear on all my rants. We would laugh together and cry together. She is a sister to me and I am to her.
I know that she has to do this. Her heart might be against doing it but right now if she thinks that this is what's best for them, all I can do is to support her.
They have only been gone for a day, but it seems like they have been gone for weeks! My mom during breakfast this morning said that she was so used to Amboy going home to the province on school breaks and it was sad since sya lang ang bata sa compound. But now that we know he is not coming back in June just makes it worst. And then she said “Ngayon nga lang ako nagkaroon ng apo na mabait, umalis pa”.
They are just a phone call and text message away. I can visit them but nothing beats to just having them next door. I will miss you both dearly...I am actually missing you now. It will take sometime before I get used to not having you next door. After 8 years ba naman! Wala na akong screen door na hahampasin…wala na akong tambayan…wala na akong kasama sa mga mcdonald’s midnight snack…wala na ako pupuntahan pag ayaw ko ulam sa house namin. It will be one quiet compound.
Amboy, you stay good. Study hard and kick a** in your new school. I may not be around to tutor you, but I will always be around to pray for you.
Bhenggay, no words will be enough to express how much I appreciate you. You remember this, the hell with what other people might think or say. People who love you and truly care for you understands and that’s what matters. I will always be here. Sabi mo nga, text-text aww na lang.
I love you both and miss you badly. Till our next inuman session.

Katie Couric, one of my favorites is leaving the "Today" show. It was so sad to watch her say her goodbye on TV yesterday. I love watching today. I remember that I used to think that Matt Lauer and Katie Couric were dating (I know, so Filipino!). She will anchor a 60 minute evening news program in CBS--the first woman to do so in the states. She is leaving the show in May and I am pretty sure that it will be exciting to watch the today show in the coming days as they cook up surprises for Katie. It's nice that they could actually say goodbye to viewers and say straight on where they are actually transferring. So unlike here in the Philippines, magugulat ka na lang lumipat na ung talent.

My cuzz, Tetski celebrated her 20th (*winks*) birthday Wednesday evening at 6 Underground. She had a theme for her birthday--statement shirts. I was not able to buy a shirt for her birthday and decided to make use of the iron-on paper I have at home. But, the iron on paper didn't work so I ended up taping my statement on my shirt. And my statement for the night, "ang pinsan ko ay isang rockstar!" it was so fun, and I too had a mini concert (teehee!). And since it was Pashy's bday the next day, we had dinner at the condo courtesy of Pashy. Will post pictures after my cousins post them. I was lazy to bring a camera.

I was chatting with a friend about a week ago about American Idol. One of my favorites is Mandisa but that I knew she would not win. I felt that she was not "American Idol" material. And I was right. She was voted off the competition last night. I did not expect her to be voted off so early in the competition though. I guess it was the song choice that got her. Oh well, that's life. My favorites now will be Katharine McPhee and Chris Daughtry. I want Bucky out next.

Amboy went with my dad to get the van my dad bought. After they got back, we had this conversation:
me: amboy, san ka galing?
amboy: kasama ko si Lolo Ben.
me: saan tanong ko hindi sino kasama mo! san ka nga galing?
amboy: bumili ng kotse! (sabay walkout)
hehehe...parang bumili lang sya ng candy sa tindahan?

The Heat Is On!
Summer is soooo here! I don't know if it's just me, pero super init na talaga. And to think that summer has just began. I am starting to think of ways on how I could survive summer. I have been taking a bath no less than 3 times a day. I have come to realize that one of the main reasons I got sick aside from not getting enough rest is because my office is freezing cold tapos by the time I go home and go out of the office, super init naman! My mom has even suggested that we eat breakfast and dinner sa garden. So, we literally eat out everynight! teehee! I like it din, kasi nga super init sa loob ng house. We also bring a TV outside and that's where we stay for a few more hours after dinner.
And since I was sick over the weekend, I was not able to do anything school related other than to read a book for an exam I had yesterday. With that and 5 more school days left, I am so dead! I was thinking that I was gonna do them earlier when I got home from work. But I was so sleepy and decided to take a nap (haha!). Now I have no excuse to sleeping early later.
It was amboy's recognition ceremony at school yesterday. He got the St. Dominic Award, an academic award and Lea received a homeroom award ( I am one happy tutor!). Sobrang laughing trip pa kami ni Bheng. As one of students was saying the closing prayer I decide to walk out of the auditorium. Bheng followed and we decided we will just wait for amboy outside the hall. After awhile, it seemed na everyone was out na and we still have not seen Amboy. Tapos we saw him looking like this....

Teehee! all the while, he thought we left him already. Kawawang Bata! Anyhoo, here are more pictures of the recognition ceremony.

I slept for 15 hours last Sunday.
I have never felt so tired. When I got home Sunday morning, all I wanted to do was sleep. Since thursday evening, I have been going to the hospital for hospital duty. Duty starts at 10pm up to 6am. I am used to working at night since i used to have night shift at work, but I don't know. Working in the hospital is more tiring than just sitting infront of the computer and taking calls. Plus pa siguro that I came from work thursday so I didn't have sleep tapos I had to wake up by 12 noon pa on friday and saturday bec I had to tutor Leah.
I have to finish 15 deliveries for my rotation this semester. I hope on finishing it before next semester because by then I would have to cover 5 major operations and 5 minor operations. My group originally wanted to go to Fabella and finish the cases their but school assigned us instead at Mandaluyong City Medical Center.
So I had 3 sleepless nights. It was very tiring but super sulit. My groupmates though found a way to catch some sleep in between deliveries, and I had the time of my life taking their pictures...
It is past 10pm, I just got home from school. I have a diagnostic test on Thursday for my maternity class. I have 6 more nursing care plan's to finish before the 30th, I have to send a classmate the paper work for my pediatrics class, I have to schedule my RLE return demo for my NCM 200 class, final exams begin on Monday and I have to be in the office everyday. Tapos, I am not feeling well pa. hay...can't wait for Holy Week!

One Half!
Tita A asked me last night to ask Nina (my niece) what her nationality was. So I approached Nina and asked her:
Me: Nina, are you Filipino?
Nina: Nope!
Me: No? E ano?
Nina: ( She is 6 so I am assuming that she does not know the concept of one half pa) I am one-half Filipina, one half American and one half queso de bola!
Me: Ah ganun...si Dada ( his dad), he is not pure Filipino also.
Nina: Talaga? Ano naman si Dada?
Me: Dada is one half Filipino and one half Mila's Lechon (ngek!)! I pray Bok is not reading this....
Here is a picture of Nina and Bok...para ma gets nyo bakit one half queso de bola and one half mila's lechon sila. Teehee!

"I was normal once, but I didn't like it."
I am abnormal. In so many ways I am. And sometimes even if I want to be normal and I act like one, I end up being abnormal. I think being normal is boring, and maybe that is the same reason why I didn't like it.

Mandisa in American Idol, rules! She is so good (for me), that I think she is the best American Idol finalist ever. She needs to survive the next 12 weeks though...well I wish she does. To watch her performance is something I will look forward too for the coming weeks.
**********
I have 10 nursing care plans (NCP) to submit for my maternity class before the end of the month. I am targeting on doing at least 1 NCP a day. I can't wait for the semester to end.
**********
My team manager is leaving the company. It is sad to know that as I come in to work on Monday, I will not see her anymore. I pray that in time, she gets the recognition she deserves. God bless, TM!
**********
I love being home Saturday morning! ER marathon, staying in bed late, and knowing I really have nothing to do. oppss...I do pala, I have school work to do. oh well, I deserve a break. I will do them later! ciao!

>>We had our capping, pinning and candle lighting ceremony last tuesday. The priest who officiated the mass kept on saying "the graduates" as he addressed us. It felt like a graduation ceremony. Pictures posted at my multiply site.
>>Sway, the only filipino on american idol sang his last song earlier. He was voted out of the show. SAYANG! i think he is a good singer...he sang the wrong song last night though.

I am still decided on finishing it, passing the local board exams and passing all the exams i have to take to finally go abroad and work there. I am planning to practice nursing and to work as a nurse. BUT. While waiting and finishing school I want to apply for higher position din sa office. School has stoped me from doing so the past months. I know I stand a chance naman but I just hesitate on applying because I am afraid na baka hindi ko mabigay yung 100% ko because I have school pa. Ahay...ano ba ang dapat ko gawin?
>>Oh yes! I want to join amazing race asia---I want! I want! I have actually downloaded the application form from the website already. I have been reading the requirements all morning in the office. Nuninuninu!

I.survived.
Last week was midterm exam week. I am just glad it's over. It is hard to balance work, tutoring, school, hospital rotation and living a life, hahaha! I have not been to the malls for weeks. I have not had the chance to watch a movie. The dvd's I bought almost a month ago, I still have not had the chance to watch. I have not even gone to the salon for some pampering.
BUT!
we had a party to celebrate my dad's birthday last Feb 14. It was a small party with family and friends from church. We played pinoy genio (thanks to p.james for facilitating the game). It was a fun party!

AND
I was able to get to enjoy a basketball game I watched with my dad. Thanks to Ate Emma for the free tickets of game 4 of the fiesta conference. I had sooo much fun. It was a post valentines date for me and my dad. Of course purefoods won that night (I have been a purefoods fan since grade school) but they eventually lost the series (red bull won 4-2). Oh well, till next conference.

*****
happy birthday TEMS! I will ask mommy to either buy pansit (pansit nanaman!) or pasta tonight to celebrate your birthday with cake. It has been a while since you last celebrated your birthday with us. I do hope though that you have fun on your day. Hope to see you soon....pag nurse na ako, teehee! I miss you and I love you.

i was prepared to start duty at the OB ward saturday morning. but to our surprise (dismay), the hospital's chief nurse told us that she is moving our duty assignment from OB ward to the ER and DR.
i hate ER. for one i do not know what to expect. ER is the busiest department in the hospital. cases vary from very simple colds and flu to stroke cases or patients who got into accidents (stab wounds, gun wounds and the list goes on). plus i am not ready to assist in delivering babies either. but i don't really have a choice. we were assigned to stay at ER every satruday and then DR on sundays.
good thing saturday was a breeze. cases were not as difficult as what i imagined. nurses and doctors on duty were all nice. We were allowed to go home early. I had time to read my books on delivery and childcare. trying to prepare myself for what can happen the next morning.
sunday, at exactly 6am we were at the hospital already. before 7am, our clinical instructor has instructed us to proceed inside the delivery room and change to our scrub suit. had our orientation and 20 mins after orientation--our first mommy is being wheeled to the delivery room. my whole group wasexcited ok scared and excited. it took patient # 1 almost 30 mins before she actually delivered the baby boy. after 10 minutes another mommy delivered a healthy baby boy, this was handled though by st jude. after around an hour my whole group was called back to the delivery room for yet another delivery. this time we felt more excited than scared. we more or less knew what to expect. a healthy baby girl was again brought to life. we all offered to be Godparent's to the baby girl. it was also the first baby for the mommy so you could just imagine the joy and excitement inside the delivery room. happiness abounds!
i had one reaction as all these unfolded right before my eyes--GANUN PALA YUN and GOD truly is amazing. imagine a woman carrying a baby on her womb for 9 months (at least) tapos seeing the baby come out of her. it was truly an experience i would never forget. the joys of being in the medical field! knowing that you helped and contributed to the delivery of the baby is one thing but the smile on the mother's face as they see their baby is another.
imagine the patient has to endure the pains of labor as they do not have money to pay for anesthesia. to quote my clinical instructor "pain more since they pay less. it's painless if they pay more". it was scary...yes it scares me to have a baby. not to have a baby of my own i guess but to go through labor and delivery.
but my hospital exposure last saturday makes me realize that i "might" actually like nursing. this profession gives you a different level of satisfaction. that everyday is a learning experience. that everyday offers you something new. i am still not looking forward to the ER exposure on saturday but i am so excited for the DR exposure on sunday. bring it on!
