I have often been asked on why I dropped my MBA studies and took up nursing instead. My standard response was "I am spending the same amount of money but would end up earning more as a nurse" (I was totally wrong though because nursing school is so E-X-P-E-N-s-I-V-E!).

I will lie if I say I was not "financially motivated" when I decided to take up nursing, because I was.

After I enrollend in nursing school. I would often have second thoughts. I think of what I have gotten myself into. In between reading nursing books or reviewing for exams, I dream of going to the mall, meet-up with friends, watch a movie or TV instead of studying on weeknights and weekends.

In the past year, I have missed a lot of work growth oppurtunities. They will be forever be missed because I will never have the time to give work my full attention.

But at the end of the day, I know that where I am right now was my choice. This is what I choose and for the next year or so, I would have to sacrifice.

To be a nurse is easy. To be a good one is not. We have skills to know by heart. We have to have the heart to take care of patients--naligo man sila o hindi, rich or poor, nice or rude, deal or no deal (duh!teehee). In the nursing profession, you can't say you are having a bad day bec your patient depends on you for their immediate care. You can't come up with excuses. A wrong decision is a wrong decision. A wrong assessment could cause you your license and worse your patient's life. It is one of those professions where dedication is very important. To be a nurse is a commitment to serve others.

I just pray and hope that nurses get the recognition and the respect they deserve. I hope people realize that we nurses are not maids.

I hope and pray that nurses realize that every time they step inside the hospital, they are not just in the hospital because it is their job. But they are to provide care and comfort to the patient.

I will be a hypocrite if I say that I am no longer "financially motivated" because I still am. It's just that now I know that the nursing profession is not all about the money. Nurses earn more because they work hard for every centavo they get.

I still have second thoughts. And sometimes, I doubt myself if I am capable of being a nurse. But now more than ever, I know in my heart that I want to do this. I want to be a nurse. Not just a nurse but a good nurse. A nurse with a heart to care and a commitment to serve. I will work hard to achieve my goals. I may have missed a lot of oppurtunities now, but more are waiting for me--lot more than I can even imagine.
GOOD NEWS: Krispy Kreme is coming to the Philippines. Woohoo!
Max's was awarded the franchise and they are hoping to open the first branch before the end of the year.

It has been raining the past week and I am not complaining. I got my much needed rest and have now recovered from my cough and colds (again!). I did not have clinical rotation last week, for some reason we were bumped off Ospital ng Maynila (OM). So, for the coming 2 weeks I will have my Operating room rotation at Mandaluyong Medical Center (MMC). I have been hearing stories from schoolmates that the doctors at MMC are strict. Patay akong bata ako!
We had dinner last night at Gerry's to celebrate my dad and mom's anniversary. After dinner we went to Cafe Breton for coffee and desert. It was time to bond again with my mom's side of the family. Tetet brought the pics from tito sonny's bday so we had a fun time looking at it.
Went to metrowalk with Ate Peach to buy dvd's. Bought dvd's for first season of numb3rs, first and second season ofwithout a trace and first and second season lost. I plan on buying all 5 seasons of 24 the next time we go back to metrowalk. Sana mag sweldo na ulit.

Im so sleepy...2 more hours of staying here in the office and i can go home na. happy monday to all!

Yesterday (July 10) was my mom's birthday (Happy Birthday, Mommy!).

No party--we just had dinner out.

I think the dinner with relatives and friends is on sat as my parents celebrate their wedding anniversary.

Dinner was good. We bought cake at cake2go a new cake shop at timog ave. Cake was sinfully good.

Finally time to go home. Ciao!

SURPRISE! We had a surprise birthday party for Tito Sonny Boy. He turned 60 yesterday but as what tita benjie said age does not matter as long he lives a happy life, he is healthy and could still do the boogie.

He didn't have an idea that his children were planning him a surprise party. All he thought was we were having dinner for his birthday. He got the shock of his life as friends and family surprised him with a dinner/inuman party at gweilos in Makati. When my uncle saw his friends he greeted them all with P***** I** while shaking and hugging his guests. My cousin then commented that my tito was mad despite the beerday surprise bec he was cursing his friends, teehee.

Highlights of the party are:

One: With good food, drinks, and good company = perfect party! I know everyone had fun. Too bad I had to work that same evening (I went straight to work from the party), I was limited to drinking iced tea.

Two:It was also peew's coming out party. With Mike sa kahon and Gobin in guitars, she serenaded her dad and the guests to a wonderful Hey Jude song number.

We originally planned on doing a dance number but had to change plans for the lack of time to meet up and practice. The task of the special number was left to peew.

Three:Tett prepared a video presentation for his dad. She even got Snooky Serna (a local actress) to greet. The video presentation was really nice--labor of love ni Sonny Boy Jr!

Four:The cake (from becky's) with the pang brownout candles.

Five:When the bday boy gave his thank you speech he started bawling (exagge!). Tears of joy lang yun for sure.

More pictures of the party posted here.

Got this from mica and i just thought of posting it to share to you....

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.

Got to get back to work now. Ciao!
